Shih-Ting Huang earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston with the Tomatz String Quartet Fellowship in 2006. Led by Andrzej Grabiec, she won the concerto competition of Moores School of Music (2001), and was one the finalists of the concerto competition of Texas Music Festival in 2002. She received her Master of Music from University of Cincinnati under the tutelage of Kurt Sassmannshaus, and performed for numerous masterclasses given by James Tocco, Sylvia Rosenberg, Almita Vamos, Rugiero Ricci, William Preucil, Lynn Chang, James Buswell, and Tákacs String Quartet.

Huang has performed in National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan), National Taiwan Youth Orchestra where she was the concertmistress, Aspen Festival Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera and Ballet, and numerous local orchestras.  She is the concertmistress in the DVD "P.D.Q. Bach in Houston''.  Other than performing, she maintains a large home studio. She was a faculty (2002~2012) and later music director (2010~2012) of New Heart Christian School of Music, violin instructor and string ensemble director at Lonestar College Cy-Fair (2009~2011), and currently instructor and concert coordinator of Houston Taiwan Institute for Senior Citizens since 2003. To spread the love of classical music to more audiences, she hosted a radio program "Sky Theater" on Texas Chinese Radio station between 2008 and 2020.

Piano was her first instrument when she started her music study at age five, and Collaborative Keyboard was her minor during her D.M.A. study. Her teachers include Timothy Hester, Pi-Hsien Chen, Hong-Kuan Chen, and she has accompanied competition contestants in Aspen Music Festival, CCM, and Taipei Municipal University of Education. She has been a choir conductor at Grace Taiwan Presbyterian Church, church pianist at a few churches, and now the rehearsal pianist at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She has been an accompanist in all of her student recitals since 2004.

She has received Suzuki Teaching Training Book 1 to 3.

台裔小提琴家黃詩婷為休士頓大學小提琴演奏及教育博士,俄亥俄州辛辛那堤大學小提琴演奏碩士,台北市立教育大學音樂教育系學士。自15歲參加國立台灣交響樂團附屬青少年管弦樂團以來,陸續參加國內外音樂節及樂團演出包括波士頓胡桃山音樂營、亞斯本音樂節與德州音樂節,曾與臺灣國家音樂廳交響樂團、OrchestraX, 明湖交響樂團、休士頓大歌劇院、休士頓芭蕾樂團等演出,她在2006年出版的音樂會DVD- P.D.Q.Bach in Houston中擔任樂團首席。

 

詩婷師事Andrzej Grabiec, Kurt Sassmannshaus,曾獲2001年休士頓大學莫爾斯音樂學院協奏曲比賽冠軍,與2002年德州音樂節協奏曲比賽決賽入選。博士班期間並獲湯瑪士弦樂四重奏獎學金, 並在許多大師班中表演如Rugiero Ricci, William Preucil, Tákacs String Quartet, Almita Vamos, Sylvia Rosenberg, James Buswell等。除了樂團以及室內樂外,詩婷熱愛鋼琴伴奏,曾於亞斯本音樂節、辛辛那提音樂院及台北市立教育大學協奏曲比賽中擔任鋼琴伴奏,並在St. Johns Presbsterian Church以及Good Shepherd United Methodist 擔任司琴,在胡桃山音樂營時並與陳必先及陳宏寬學習鋼琴。

 

詩婷曾擔任Cy-Fair Lonestar 大學講師、新心基督教音樂學院院長與兼任音樂教師、休士頓松年學院音樂欣賞課教授,鈴木小提琴教學法教師訓練三級,曾為德州中文台「音樂的殿堂」古典音樂節目主持人十一年。
